PNC-28 is a synthetic peptide comprising residues 17–26 of the p53 transactivation domain fused to a membrane-residency signal from the penetratin class.
It was developed as a research tool to study p53-independent induction of apoptosis in transformed cell lines.In cancer cell-line research, PNC-28 has been studied for its proposed interaction with HDM-2 (the p53 regulator) and for inducing membrane-mediated cell death pathways.
